To diversify CS 1.6 gameplay and expand its features and functionality, new mods are constantly being created and old ones improved. Most often, this is done by game server administrators. Different mods use various non-standard maps.

9 main mods for online play:



Classic (Public) is the classic Counter-Strike mod, where players face standard team objectives such as planting and defusing bombs, holding or rescuing hostages. Nowadays, it is often accompanied by “Army Ranks.” The classic mod remains the most popular in the CS 1.6 community.



Zombie Mod is a confrontation between special forces and zombies. This mod often features lots of blood, infections, and other perks that game servers offer. The special forces player is given weapons, while zombies have high HP but are unarmed. Zombies must defeat the entire special forces team, while the special forces must resist the zombie onslaught.



Jail Break (prison mod) is another popular mod. In this modification, CT special forces become guards, and T terrorists become prisoners. Hide'n'Seek mod (hide and seek) – this mod allows you to play hide and seek on a CS 1.6 server. You can crawl on ladders, and you need to learn to jump farther than usual and perform bunny hops. This is necessary to escape or catch the opponent. The special forces are given a knife, while terrorists get two flashbangs and one freezing grenade. All maps in this mod are full of ladders.



Surf mod is a very interesting mod. On a surf server, you can ride on sloped blocks while holding weapons. The main objective is to eliminate all opposing players. Playing on these servers requires surfing skills. While less popular than before, some servers are still crowded with players. Riding on blocks allows you to reach high speeds.



CSDM + Guns and Lasers is a fast-paced mod because after being killed, you respawn immediately. The main goal is to rack up frags until the map timer ends. The mod can be classic or include guns and lasers, which add interest to gameplay and attract new players to the server.



War3ft allows you to choose a race when entering the server. Different abilities are available, such as invisibility, vampirism, setting opponents on fire, and other Warcraft-inspired features. The higher your level, gained by completing certain tasks, the more powerful your abilities (magic).



GunGame is a weapon progression mod. GunGame servers can vary; you can choose team weapon progression or individual progression. You need to upgrade your weapons from a pistol to rifles and automatic guns. The final frag must be made with a knife to win the map.
